“TRANSCULTURAL ASPECTS OF AGING AND HEALTHCARE”

Tuesday, August 18, 2009
Mesa Convention Center
263 North Center Street
Mesa, AZ

The cultural diversity of the United States is rapidly changing reflecting record numbers of older adults from numerous ethnic groups.  It will become increasingly important for clinicians to understand differences among ethnic groups in order to render appropriate and therapeutic care.  This conference is designed to assist health care professionals to learn about cultural beliefs and characteristics of the major ethnic groups represented in Arizona.  Issues addressed will include primary health risks, traditions and health beliefs, acculturation, communication, and practical considerations for healthcare clinicians. A universal aging experience will be provided so each clinician can be sensitized to further make necessary accommodations.

“Transcultural Aspects of Aging and Healthcare” will take place on Tuesday, August 18 at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa.  For more information or to register, call 602-265-0211 or visit www.arizonageriatrics.org.
